An excellent maincrop variety with a long harvest period, showing good weather tolerance. Its long, straight shanks have a pleasing, mild flavour too.

Sow Indoors

January-February, thinly into pre-watered seed trays 1cm (½in) deep. Place in warmth 10-15°C (50-60°F) and keep moist at all times.

Plant Out

April-May, when 20cm (8in) tall into holes 15cm (6in) deep, fill with water. Plant 15-20cm (6-8in) apart, in rows 25-30cm (10-12in) apart.

Sow Outdoors

March-April, thinly into pre-watered soil 1cm (½in) deep in rows 15cm (6in) apart in seed bed. Keep soil moist at all times.

Tips

To ensure a long white shaft draw up soil around plants as they develop. Keep well watered and feed regularly.
